One Woman Army called back into active duty

So I have been thinking, with the big fall horse auction next weekend ( Oct 18-19 ) I need to go up and document the auction for all the people trying to do great things for horses. I won't be undercover or anything, but I will be taking notes and snapping pictures. If I can get some good pictures out there to the people who care and need me to document this, I will be doing things for my herd as Hope listed above was saved from certain death via transported to a Mexician horse slaughterhouse from the Southwest Livestock Auction in December of 2006. She still has health issues, but is doing great and with such a great personality I need to keep playing it back. I won't be buying anything at the auction as I have too many horses as it is, but I will be going to document. Maybe I will meet some like minded folk like myself. Anyways its not till next weekend. I have the Duke City 5k walk in the AM on the 19th in ALBQ, then will be heading to the sale. God give me strength :)

I would love to know more about the horse auction, too. Where is it going to be and what time?

Not that we are looking for another horse (well sort of, a good kid's horse or pony, actually)
But really just would like to attaned a horse aution, at last once in my life.
I've heard so many 'interesting' stories about them...

The big auction is this weekend in Los Lunas- I will be working Saturday, when they sell the "grade" horses but I will be going Sunday for the "non-grade" sale. If you are looking for a bargain then this is the place to go.. Its just really sad as horses that aren't sold will be shipped to Mexico :( If you go, OMG let me know! I would love to meet you and have some support :)

Update- I won't be going.. I just can't stomach it after my little vet expense I will have to pay this week- I am going to stay home and hug my horses :)

I don't blame you at all, Kristen. I would have chosen the same thing.

It would break my heart seeing the horses that I couldn't buy, knowing what their fate is. :(

I do hope we can meet one day, though.

I ended up going hiking with my neighbor friend, up to the Cerillos Hills Historic Mining Park. It was a lot of fun and a beautiful warm day.

I was SO excited to see that the trails are open to horse back riders. I got excited when I saw hoofprints and horse poo on the trails. I'm so silly!
They've got hitching posts and the trails are really nice, although a bit rocky.
I hope to take my horse up there to ride this winter, when it's too cold in the mountains :)

I would love to meet! I haven't really met any horse people since I moved here.. We should plan a River ride, or I can borrow my neighbors trailer and come ride up in your woods :)
